Lexi's Volleyball Team Wins the Tournament

Lexi plays on a recreational volleyball team, the Spring Creek Crush. A rec league is for players who are looking to learn and understand the game without the pressure of traveling across the state to participate in tournaments. Rec leagues are competitive, just not as competitive as "Club" leagues, the next step up. I think most of the girls would like the competition, but parents want to delay the major investments of time and money required byClub volleyball leagues.
Lexi loves volleyball (she takes after her aunt Betsey). She nevers misses practice and during the season will often spend her Friday evenings at volleyball clinics improving her skills. Russ and I love volleyball because it is played indoors which means it is never too hot, or too cold, there is never a rain out, games generally take only an hour and they are incredibly fun to watch.
This year, the Crush was undefeated during the regular season, winning each of their matches 2-0. They won the championship losing only one game in the final match. The article below from the local edition of our newspaper (written by the father of one of the girls) tells the story of their exciting victory. You can click on the story if you are having difficulty reading it in this size. And in case you were wondering, our little Lexi played very well.

cricket was thrilled to hear about lexi's team. she said that lexi is now famous and when is she playing for the olympics!?! cric took a volleyball clinic and it is now "her thing." "her things" keep changing so we will see how long it lasts -- but that is good since she is only 7
