I Give Up

I'm done. That's it. Kaput. I am done trying to make banana bread. I had three very disgustingly ripe bananas that were, none the less, perfect for banana bread. The batter turned out great. I baked them in four mini loaf pans. They were brown on top. Sprang back when touched. A toothpick inserted came out clean. By all metrics they looked done. But when I turned them out they looked like this:




All schlumpy. Liquid in the center. The edges are edible but the centers need a spoon. A bitter disappointment. I can't figure out why I can't make a decent loaf of banana bread. In college I had to subcontract production out to Bubba. And she didn't even measure! Added insult to injury. My recipe says to bake at 300...is that the temp you all use?

So 2 August 2011 is the last day Owens is in Berge possession. End of an era. Here's to 45 good years.
