When Paul saw a cute hooded jacket Cannonn received that has ears on the hood he rolled his eyes and said, "He's not at toy!" Well, yes he is! So...here's my new boy toy doing what he does best...sleep!

Lexi at Horseback Riding Camp

Lexi is blessed with many good friends. One of her friends, Maggie Lindemann has a horse and frequently competes in shows. They have a lake house on Lake Whitney, about 1 1/2 hours south of Dallas, where the horse is boarded. The last two summers, Maggie's mom, Dennise, has held a horseback riding camp. She takes her two kids and two other children. Lexi has gone both years and LOVES it.

Dennise says that Lexi rides very well. It is probably just that she likes to ride so much. But the camp isn't just about riding the horses. They have to take care of them too. They have to brush them down, bathe them, brush them, and clean out their stalls. And what is amazing to me is that while I cannot get her to clean out her room, she has volunteered to go and muck out the horse stalls during the hot sticky weather for several weeks next summer. We'll just have to see about that. This picture is of Maggie (green shirt), Blair (blue shirt) and Lexi (pink shirt).
It is not just about the work. The kids also have a great time just hanging at the lake.

Bitsey the Unwanted Volleyball

This year, each 5th grade student at Bowie Elementary had to write a book. I don't remember ever having to write a book, and if I had, I am sure it would not be as good as the book that Lexi wrote. It's so good in fact, that I thought you might like to read it for your Book Club's meeting...perhaps the Shedaisy Book Club can read their next meeting.

Lexi's current career goals: author, attorney, the next Misty Mays, track star, environmentalist, horseback rider. I think she can be all of these things.

On a side note: Because the original book was bound, I had to make a color copy before scanning it so that it could be saved in one file. Blake saw the color copies that I had made. He was "amazed" that Lexi could make a copy that looked just like the original. He thought she had colored it by hand. I laughed until I cried.
